A Season of Gratitude. A Season of Giving Thanks.

'TIS THE SEASON OF SERVICE

The United Relief Foundation is making a difference for the veterans we serve by helping them become or stay self-reliant during their time of need. However, COVID-19 has made just surviving a tragic reality for more veterans, especially those with children.

United Relief Foundation Doing a Good

· Each year, over 6,000 veterans commit suicide, and 9% of the adult homeless population are veterans.¹
· Women veterans are at least twice as likely to be homeless as non-veteran women. and more likely to be single parents.¹
· Almost 1.2 million veterans live below the poverty level and 4-million veterans have a service-connected disability.¹

We have the capabilities to be of service during the pandemic, and continue to adjust one-on-one contact activities accordingly to keep our volunteers and the veterans we serve safe.

Making A Difference by Being The Difference

There are several ways the United Relief Foundation is of service to our veterans in need. However, you may be surprised to learn that the basic personal hygiene products and clothing most of us take for granted are a luxury to more veterans than you think and just one personal care kit, a new coat, hat, gloves or yes, even socks help a veteran in need more than you could know.

The impact of military service on the children of veterans: A problem not to be ignored despite the uncertainties.

IJE study found that the veterans' children themselves had significantly increased rates of lifetime trauma exposure compared with the matched cohort of adults drawn from the civilian community. These increased rates of trauma exposure could partially account for the increased rates of disorder in veterans' children.
